Pollen Counts

With the aim of looking at colour this series of work was based on pollen. Pollen has no colour and is dyed with saffron to make it visible to botanists, archaeologists etc in the laboratory. Pollen and other organic matter were examined under microscopes, from core samples taken by archaeologists on excavations, laboratory teaching samples and through visits to Kew Garden archives. This series of work is still under way, the subject moving to a typical garden.
